Dr. (Major) Rajesh Bhardwaj from MedFirst ENT Centre offers the following common treatments to children facing ENT problems:

    • Medical interventions: We offer medical interventions for various types of ENT problems. These interventions may include medicines, allergy shots, nasal sprays, desensitization, and other conservative treatment methods. The goal of medical interventions is to reduce symptoms and encourage overall general health.
    • Surgical interventions: When conservative treatment methods cannot treat the condition, our ENT specialist may recommend undergoing surgical procedures like ear tube implantation or myringotomy, sinus surgery, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, airway reconstruction, surgical correction of certain congenital defects, etc.
    • Treatment for hearing problems: Our pediatric ENT doctor will first assess the hearing loss or auditory problems in a child. Based on the child’s assessment, the doctor will offer treatments like hearing aids or cochlear implants to solve the child’s hearing problems.
    • Voice and speech treatment: Children having speech and voice disorders will be treated by our pediatric ENT in close association with the speech therapist to improve the child’s speech and vocal function.
    • Allergy management: Your child will undergo allergy testing and recommended things to avoid, as well as environmental adjustments that need to be made to avoid allergies and reduce the impact of allergies on ENT disorders.

    FAQS

    Frequently Asked Questions

Most ear infections that occur in children run their course in about one week. Pain because of ear infection can be managed using warm compresses, medications, or eardrops prescribed by the pediatric ENT. If the infection is bacterial, antibiotics may be prescribed.

Children suffering from chronic ear infections may need ear tubes, which are small tubes placed in the eardrum by the ENT to provide ventilation to the middle ear and avoid the buildup of fluid.

It is normal for children less than three years of age to suffer from one or two ear infections in one year. The ear infection usually develops when fluid is trapped in the middle ear following a viral or bacterial infection.

Younger children are more likely to get ear infections as their Eustachian tubes are still short and developing, and therefore more likely to get blocked or swollen.

The common ENT problems in children include ear infections (otitis media), sinus infections, tonsillitis, nasal congestion, loss of hearing, sleep apnea, and adenoid problems.

Some common signs of ear infection in children are ear pain, fluid drainage from the ear, hearing difficulty, fever, tugging at the ear, and irritability. Younger children could also have trouble sleeping and poor feeding due to an ear infection.

You need to take your child to a pediatric ENT if your child has chronic or recurrent ear infections, persistent nasal congestion, difficulty hearing, snoring, speech delays, or any other problems associated with the ears, nose, or throat that could affect their health or development.

Tonsil or adenoid removal (tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy) may be recommended if the child suffers from recurrent throat infections (more than 7 throat infections in a year) or persistent breathing difficulties, such as chronic nasal obstruction or sleep apnea.

To prevent ear infections in your child, avoid your child’s exposure to secondhand smoke, limit the use of pacifiers, ensure good hygiene, keep the child’s vaccinations up to date, and avoid the contact of your child with sick children.
